Quickstart

1. Create an API key

In CostCrunch, go to Settings → API and click Create key. Copy the key (it starts with cc_live_); it's only shown once. More in API keys.

2. Install uv

The CostCrunch tools run with uv, a small Python tool runner. On a Mac:

brew install uv

On Windows or Linux, follow the uv install guide.

3. Pick a way in

An AI assistant (Claude Code):

claude mcp add costcrunch --env COSTCRUNCH_API_KEY=cc_live_... -- uvx --from costcrunch cost mcp

Then ask: "Which invoices need my attention?" Other assistants: Claude Desktop, Cursor, others.

The command line:

uv tool install costcrunch
export COSTCRUNCH_API_KEY=cc_live_...
cost documents list --status needs_attention

Python:

from costcrunch import CostCrunch

cc = CostCrunch(api_key="cc_live_...")
print(cc.spend.monthly())
